REPAIRS
Quartzdyne offers complete repair and
recalibration services for our products. We have determined that the most
cost-effective repair includes a new circuit, and new temperature and reference
crystals, followed by a recalibration. (The new calibration is dictated by the
replacement of these components.) Our objective is to provide a repaired unit
with "like new" reliability, and we have determined that this level
of repair achieves that result. Reliability is also the reason that we do not repair
pressure sensors, nor do we attempt circuit board repairs.
Repair and recalibration service charges are based on the
transducer model; see our Price
List. Calibration is included in the repair
charge. Bellows are replaced, if required. Series I or Q-Link
repairs are $350. Customer pays for shipping.
We assess a $150 evaluation fee in two
circumstances:
- when a customer declines service (repair or recalibration), and the
transducer is returned to customer.
- when we determine no failure with the transducer, and the
transducer is returned to the customer.
All repairs include
electrical testing of the circuit board and crystals. This information is used
to evaluate our designs and manufacturing processes, and to provide feedback to
customers on any problems that we detect in their methods for using our products.
Quartzdyne also sells circuit boards
(excluding hybrids), and temperature and reference crystals. If you can fix
your transducer by changing these components, you may do so.
We do not support customer repairs which
involve other parts. If you need additional parts, we recommend sending the
transducer to us. We have found that attempts to support customers repairs at
this level (beyond "swapping" crystals and circuits) are not
cost-effective: they involve more engineering support than is justified. It's
too hard to fix a transducer "over the phone."
